Splendid set of Hammerton's monumental pictorial history of WWII. It was published throughout the conflict in 255 parts (varying from weekly to fortnightly), and subsequently issued in bound volumes: either burgundy pictorial cloth (as here) or navy half roan. It is also found in later, plain or home-made bindings. COMPLETE SETS IN THE ORIGINAL BINDINGS ARE SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.
